Was It All Futile

In the story of creation, God created heaven and earth. He brought light to the darkness, order to the chaos that ruled. He commanded the water to retreat, exposing the face of the earth. He stretched out the sky, created the sun, the moon and hung out the stars, He made the hours of day and night .

He harnessed the power of thunder and the lightning, ordered the strong winds to their four corners. He raised the lofty mountains, drew a path for the rivers and the spring . He made the lush green valleys, the cedars and oak to stand like sentinels in forests, trees to bring forth exotic fruits, and shrubs to bear wild berries. He gave life to the barren earth, covered it with green grass and gay flowers, clothed in bright colours.

He created the animals, the wild lion and the timid lamb, the most fierce then lay down in peace with the tame . He made the four footed, fast like the wind, while others slow, some to climb the trees and others to crawl the earth . The birds of the air, their brilliant plumage they displayed as they flew around, their songs a beautiful aria. The waters He filled with fish of all size and colour even the mighty leviathan.

And when all was ready, God viewed His creation,, and felt there was still something, missing! So it is He created man, on the sixth day, from the dust of the earth He created a being in His own image, and the woman, his companion. He gave them the stewardship of all His creation, to enjoy and to nurture. To keep them safe He gave them clear instructions taught them His ways, the right and wrong, after which God rested, satisfied .

But alas, not long after they were victims of the devil’s persuasion, tempted to flout God’s command and indulge in the forbidden fruit. Thus resulted the first sin and there were many to follow, for though created in God’s image, man is but human and fallible. So it was, right after the first sin, that God made His plan to redeem mankind, His most precious creation, from eternal destruction.

His prophets He sent one by one with prophetic warnings, messengers He sent with messages to repent, to turn back to the path of righteousness. But lo, all in vain as with vengeance did mankind strike them all down. Then He sent His only Son, sinless and pure, heaven’s perfect lamb, to be sacrificed, to cleanse their sins, to save them from damnation .

All He asked in return, is a repentant, loving heart, to believe in Him, to follow in His path. But man in his prideful and self willed ways, rejected the Saviour and Salvation, and accepted not the truth of His teachings . I ask then, was it all futile, was the creation of mankind a folly,? Are we the blight, the wrong that can never be righted, meant to perish, marked for extinction?
